Whoops. Sorry

We found out today our request page emails haven’t been reaching us. It seems our spam filter tightened around the beginning of August and took exception to the way that form gets sent to us. We’re going through the spam box to see what we missed. If you tried to contact us by email or through our website feel free to try again. We promise we weren’t being jerks and ignoring you!

Thanks for a great season so far. We hope to see you soon for your sprinkler winterizing!

Opening Day
Warm enough for sprinkler startups

Troy's 15 day forecast!

We have officially started the 2010 Sprinkler Season today. This morning started off with some frost on the windshields but with temps nearing 80 degrees this Friday we’re ready to say we’re out of the woods. Not that you’ll be needing to water for at least few weeks but it’s safe to turn your sprinklers on and get them ready for summer. Keep an eye on your mailboxes because we’re thinking about timing our postcards to start landing while people are home and thinking about their yards on this hot holiday weekend. Feel free to give us a call anytime now to schedule your spring startup. Even if you want to wait until May it’s not a bad idea to call now so you can have your choice of appointments (if you call mid May the line could be two weeks long).

Speaking of scheduling… we’re trying out a new online scheduler this year. We haven’t put it on the main page yet  because we want to get a dozen appointments or so on it to make sure all the kinks have been worked out. Feel free to use it and leave us feedback so we know if we’re on the right track. We’re still making changes to it but customers have been asking for this for years.  Don’t worry you can’t mess it up and we’ll send you a confirmation email so you know you’re all set.

Dave Christiansen

The man behind the elephant

Happy 2010 Sprinkler Season by the way…

We’re busy as ever getting ready for what we’re sure will be another great summer. We wanted to let you know, however, that we FINALLY have our comments on this blog figured out (hopefully). We were overrun with spam for a long time but we took care of it and haven’t seen any spam for a while now. We love to hear from you so please feel free to leave us a note here or anywhere you see us online. We get all our messages!

Thanks for all your continued support. We look forward to working with you in 2010.

We receive a lot of compliments on our elephant. Thank You! We were lucky enough to have world traveler and celebrity photographer Dave Christiansen design it for us. Check him out at www.DaveChristiansen.com

Checking In

Busy Busy Busy.

Lawns started turning brown so we have been busy running around taking care of all the coverage issues and broken heads that really get noticed this time of year. How about a tip of the day? Many customers start complaining during a dry month that even though they keep running their sprinklers longer and longer they can’t seem to get enough water into the lawn. Try running a cycle and soak program! If you are running 30 minutes per zone try splitting that in half and running it for 15 minutes in back to back cycles. The soil can only take so much water at once. Once it becomes saturated it starts to run off and then you’re just wasting water. If you run back to back cycles with the run times split in half you are able to give the first cycle a chances to soak in before your cycle around for round 2. Remember… deep less frequent waterings are better than those frequent shallow mistings!

Alright… If you sat through that lecture you’ve deserved a couple videos. We have one up on YouTube of our first rain day in a while. On Facebook we put up a short clip of us messing around on a repair.

Don’t forget… follow us on Twitter for the little 140 character updates in between blogs.

We’ve been using commercial remote controls to handle all our large commercial accounts for a few years now.  These remotes save us hours because we can instantly turn on and off any zone from miles away.  This saves us tons of walking and helps us check out every inch of the sprinkler systems.

Thanks to a new technique we picked up this year we can make all of our residential systems remote ready no matter the controller.  At your next visit we wire in a permanent setup to your controller so that it can be controlled by our universal remote control every time after that.

At your special request we can take a few extra minutes and can wire in the connection so we can control the sprinklers without having to get access to either the garage or basement.  Think how nice it’d be not to have to wait for the sprinkler guy anymore!

We posted a video of the remote in action on both our facebook page (become a fan) and youtube (subscribe).  You can see how we can check out three zones as fast as it would take to walk to the timer and back.  Plus you don’t have to worry about dirty sprinkler socks going in and out of the house a dozen times to get to the basement.

248 856 2486 is the new temporary fax number until the old one (248) 879 -6258 gets ported.

The old fax machine gave up on us… or we gave up on it.

Anyway, we’re about as excited as you can be for a new fax system.

-More earth friendly

-Can access it anywhere

Happy Tax Day

April 15th is a deadline for both your taxes and your Best Irrigation contracts. It also means that our main office help is back from preparing taxes and you’ll get a real pro on the phone instead of me. We’ll be calling everyone who signed up for a contract early next week to get you on the schedule for your spring startup. If you didn’t want to sign up for a contract no worries, just call soon to make sure you get an appointment that works for your schedule and isn’t too late in the spring.

We’ve already started turning sprinkler systems on. Don’t wait until you need them to call. Get them turned on now so they’re ready to go when the weather gets hot.

Also… we’re thrilled so many people have requested Best Irrigationtemporary tattoos. If you want us to mail you some send us an address. You can also ask the technician that comes to you house for some.

Hurry though… we’re working on a deadline for the tattoo competition.   Stay up to date by following our facebook fan page or on twitter!

Sprinkler Startups

Our postcards are starting to go out this week in waves starting with Troy and Rochester.  If you don’t receive your card within a week or two give us a call or shoot us an email to get on our spring start-up schedule.

There are instructions on there about signing up for a service contract.  We made these available after many requests but signing up for a seasonal contract isn’t required to get on our spring activation or fall winterization list.

Here’s the link if you’re looking for it from the postcard www.bestirrigationinc.com/contracts
